The Pudding V2 keycap set is designed specifically for users who want to maximise the visual impact of their keyboard's backlighting. Made from PBT plastic using a double-shot moulding process, these keycaps offer a durable and practical upgrade over stock ABS keycaps, with a focus on enhanced light diffusion through their signature pudding-style design. Available in a versatile black and white colour scheme, they are sold in various layout-specific packs to fit a wide range of popular mechanical keyboards.

Features and Construction

The Pudding V2 keycaps are built with specific features that address common desires for keyboard customisation, focusing on aesthetics, material quality, and compatibility.

Material and Build

These keycaps are constructed from PBT (Polybutylene Terephthalate) plastic, a material favoured in the keyboard community for its textured feel and resistance to developing a glossy shine from finger oils. The legends—the letters and symbols on the keycaps—are created using a double-shot moulding technique. This process involves moulding the legend from a separate piece of plastic within the main keycap body, ensuring the symbols will not wear off over time. This construction method directly supports the keycap's longevity and maintains a clean appearance.

Size and Practical Fit

The keycaps follow the OEM profile, which is a common shape and height that provides a familiar typing angle and feel. The primary functional feature is the pudding-style design, where the sides of the keycap are opaque (in black or white), but the top surface and legend area are made from a translucent plastic. This design allows the backlighting from compatible mechanical keyboards to shine through more brightly and evenly, creating a vibrant glow effect. The product is offered in numerous specific sets, identified as G1 through G13, each containing the exact keys needed for layouts like GH60, Poker, 87-key TKL, full-size 104/108-key, ANSI, ISO, XD64, and XD68 boards.

Uses and Placement

These keycaps serve both functional and aesthetic purposes, suitable for various environments from professional workstations to dedicated gaming setups at home.

Event or Professional Use

For streamers, content creators, or professionals who use their keyboard on camera, the enhanced backlighting of the Pudding V2 keycaps can improve visual clarity for viewers. The distinct glow makes key functions easier to see in dimly lit studio environments. The durable PBT construction and double-shot legends also mean the keyboard will maintain a professional, un-worn appearance over extended periods of frequent use, which is a practical consideration for equipment that is regularly on display.

Everyday Home Use

In a home office or gaming setup, these keycaps allow users to customise the look of their keyboard to match their desk aesthetic with the classic black and white colourway. The improved backlighting is not just for show; it can make it easier to locate keys in low-light conditions during evening work or gaming sessions. Swapping to a set of textured PBT keycaps can also refresh the tactile feel of typing, potentially reducing finger slippage compared to smoother, worn stock keycaps.

Benefits and Buying Value

The value of this keycap set lies in its targeted design choices, offering specific improvements over standard keyboard keycaps without requiring technical expertise to install.

Reuse and Low Maintenance

Keycaps are a reusable component. Should you upgrade your mechanical keyboard in the future, you can typically transfer these PBT keycaps to any new board that uses the same Cherry MX-style switch stems and layout. Their material properties mean they require minimal maintenance; the PBT plastic is resistant to oils and discolouration, and a simple wipe with a damp cloth is sufficient for cleaning. This contributes to a longer usable lifespan for the product itself.

Why Choose This Product

Choosing the Pudding V2 set is a direct solution for users whose primary goal is to enhance their keyboard's backlighting effect. The product focuses on that single aesthetic advantage and pairs it with the practical benefits of PBT material and double-shot legends. Unlike generic keycap sets, it is explicitly designed for light diffusion (the pudding style) and is sold in precise layout packs (G1-G13), ensuring you receive all necessary keys without extras you cannot use. This specificity reduces guesswork and provides a clear, functional upgrade path for your existing mechanical keyboard.

https://aerotouch.fiorevale.com/products/pudding-v2-pbt-double-shot-keycap-set-for-mechanical-keyboards-oem-profile-pudding-style-backlit-keycaps-in-black-and-white-compatible-with-gh60-poker-87-tkl-104-108-ansi-iso-xd64-xd68-layouts
