It is listed as supporting capacities up to 2TB and accepts drives with a height of 9.5mm and below. The enclosure uses a USB 3.0 Micro B and SATA 3.0 interface, and it is compatible with Windows, Mac, and Linux systems. Installation is described as tool-free, so a compatible drive can be fitted without a screwdriver. The housing is made from ABS material and comes in black, with overall dimensions of 126.5 x 80 x 15mm. This makes it relevant for anyone reusing a spare laptop drive, building a simple backup drive, or moving data between computers without buying a complete external hard drive.

Features and Construction

The enclosure is built around a straightforward 2.5 inch SATA drive format rather than a fixed internal disk. That means the drive itself can be selected separately, within the stated 2TB capacity limit and 9.5mm height limit. The external connections are USB 3.0 Micro B and SATA 3.0, covering the link between the drive and a host computer. The case material is ABS, and the colour is black.

Material and Build

The housing is made from ABS material in a black finish. ABS is a commonly used plastic for small electronic enclosures, and here it forms the outer case for the drive. The product is not described as metal or as having shockproof, waterproof, or rugged features, so the material should be understood simply as the stated ABS construction. The enclosure measures 126.5 x 80 x 15mm, which is a slim rectangular format suited to a single 2.5 inch drive.

Size and Practical Fit

The stated product size is 126.5 x 80 x 15mm. It accepts hard disks of 9.5mm and below, so it is intended for slim 2.5 inch drives rather than thicker models. Capacity is listed as up to 2TB. These limits are important when choosing a drive: the enclosure is not described as supporting drives above 2TB or drives taller than 9.5mm. Within those figures, it offers a compact external housing for a single SATA drive.

Uses and Placement

This enclosure is most useful where a spare 2.5 inch SATA drive needs to become portable or easier to connect. It can be used with a laptop drive pulled from an upgrade, a small SSD, or another compatible 2.5 inch SATA drive. Because it works with Windows, Mac, and Linux, it can suit mixed computer setups. The tool-free installation method keeps the fitting process simple, and the black ABS case is plain enough for desk, shelf, or bag storage.

Event or Professional Use

For work or event use, the enclosure can hold a compatible 2.5 inch SATA drive for carrying files between machines. The 126.5 x 80 x 15mm size is small enough to sit alongside a laptop, and the USB 3.0 Micro B and SATA 3.0 interface is the stated connection type. Capacity is limited to 2TB and drive height to 9.5mm and below, so larger or thicker drives are not supported by the listed specification. It is a functional way to use an existing drive rather than a complete storage kit.

Everyday Home Use

At home, the ORICO 2577U3 can be used to house a spare 2.5 inch drive for documents, photos, or other files. The tool-free installation means the drive can be fitted without tools, which may help when repurposing a drive from an old laptop. The enclosure is compatible with Windows, Mac, and Linux, so it can be moved between different home computers. The black ABS housing and slim 15mm profile keep it unobtrusive, though it is not stated as waterproof or shockproof.

Benefits and Buying Value

The main value is in reusing a compatible 2.5 inch SATA drive instead of replacing it with a fully assembled external drive. The enclosure supports up to 2TB, fits drives of 9.5mm and below, and connects through USB 3.0 Micro B and SATA 3.0. Tool-free installation reduces the need for extra equipment when fitting the drive. The ABS case in black provides the outer housing, and the stated systems are Windows, Mac, and Linux.

Reuse and Low Maintenance

Because the enclosure is designed for 2.5 inch SATA drives, it allows an existing drive to be put back into service. There are no stated care instructions beyond the material and fit limits, so normal handling of an ABS electronic enclosure is appropriate. The tool-free design means the drive can be installed without a screwdriver, which is useful if drives are swapped occasionally. The 2TB capacity limit and 9.5mm height limit should be checked before fitting a drive.

Why Choose This Product

Choose the ORICO 2577U3 if you need a black ABS enclosure for a 2.5 inch SATA drive of 9.5mm or less, with support listed up to 2TB. It provides USB 3.0 Micro B and SATA 3.0 connectivity and works with Windows, Mac, and Linux. The tool-free installation method keeps setup straightforward. It does not include a stated drive or cable, and it is not described as offering waterproof, shockproof, or rugged protection, so the listed specifications should guide the buying decision.

https://aerotouch.fiorevale.com/products/orico-2577u3-2-5-inch-sata-hdd-ssd-enclosure-abs-tool-free-usb-3-0-micro-b-sata-3-0-mobile-hard-disk-box-for-9-5mm-and-below-drives-black
